CHARGERS @ Wild Rooster Artworks |
||||||||||
| Ben has been making this sort of charger for more than six years. These are the main reason for his purchase of a slab roller. All of his chargers are formed on a hump mold with a slab of clay. Starting more than six years ago, Ben wanted to make wide, shallow bowls that could be decorated like a canvas but be functional in all serving situations and also hang on the wall as a piece of artwork. He began throwing massive bowls, bisque firing them and then filling them full of plaster. When the plaster had hardened, he refined the forms and began using them in the production of these chargers. They have been a great source of frustration over the years, but Ben has stuck with it and refined the form and the process. Today, these are one of Ben's signature pieces, proving that persistence really does pay off. He continues to experiment with a variety of glazes and designs, but those pictures above have proven the most successful and enjoyed. Like everything else Ben does, each piece is unique. | ![]() |
