Description

In the prophet Joshua’s final days, he invited all of Israel to make a conscious and thoughtful choice to serve the Lord. Joshua reminded the people of the crooked path they’d wandered over their long history as they often allowed idolatry and distractions to come between them and their God who has patiently kept and preserved them for generations. Many mighty miracles of escape, sustaining and preservation have kept them going. The covenants God made with Israel have been maintained on His side even when they are lacking with mankind. Joshua’s invitation is as important to us today as it was to those in his generation. We get to decide whom we will serve. We get to decide that everyday. But joy and the blessings of eternity follow only those who choose to serve the Lord.

Houses and buildings from many cultures and eras are represented on this platter, reminding us that we are all children of God and are all responsible for the choices we make for the God or gods to whom we choose to pledge our allegiance. At The Sermon on the Mount, Jesus taught, “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.” (Matthew 6:24 NLT) Many of the greatest challenges to Jacobs sons and daughters over the course of history has derived from either choosing to serve other gods, or failing to remember the need to love and serve the one true God. May this platter serve as a visual reminder of Christ’s invitation, “…If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”

Discipleship is a daily decision, and the only one that offers the fullness of joy. Choose wisely. Choose to serve the Lord.

This platter is 14.5″ in diameter and about 3″ deep. It is also ready to hang on your wall.
