This bowl was a commission from a groom for his new bride. Though the groom wanted only one, Ben had long loved the quote and believed others would as well.
Taking his creative inspiration from the quote itself, Ben made the heart reminiscent of the iris of the eye to suggest that the heart is really the iris of the soul.
